Our Most Frequently Asked Questions
Do I get a working electric supercharger for my $10?
We only supply plans and construction manuals not the superchargers themselves or the materials to build one.
All measurements are denoted in both metric and imperial units.
Parts and materials are widely available and we are not aware of any problems acquiring them.
All prices quoted are in US dollars. $70 covers the approximate cost of constructing our 24 volt base model including wiring and switches (36 volt models cost about $130 to build). Ducting and air filter are not included as theses prices will vary from vehicle to vehicle.
While we were developing the charger we had it idling at 12 volts when not engaged to prevent induction impedance (restricted air flow). Further testing showed that the difference idling made was so small it was even difficult to measure. We therefore found that idling the charger is unnecessary and that air flow restriction is not an issue.
Raised voltages used by the electric supercharger are completely isolated from your vehicles electrical and electronic systems. No harm can come to your existing vehicle electrics by installing our supercharger.
Unfortunately our supercharger is unsuitable for motor bikes. Not only is it cumbersomely large, extra batteries are required to boost voltage. Furthermore motor bike electrical systems cannot handle the very high current loads.
Our 24 volt superchargers usually run at 25 to 30 Amps (600W to 720W) and our 36 volt superchargers mostly run between 35 and 50 Amps (1260W to 1800W). These figures vary between different makes of electric motor but most types fall into this range.
Two stroke engines are very difficult to supercharge. Gas flow through a two stroke engine is critical to its operation and any changes to that gas flow require substantial alterations to the engine. For this reason we do not recommend our charger for two stroke engines
Diesel fuel systems need to be recalibrated if a non standard forced induction system is fitted. This is a technically difficult and expensive operation that is hard to justify for electric superchargers. For this reason we do not recommend our electric supercharger for diesel engines.
Those that introduce fuel to the inlet manifold via a diffuser or spud port require superchargers to be mounted downstream from the fuel source. This means there would be a very large volume of combustible fuel/air mixture in the manifold, ducting and supercharger itself. Should this mixture be ignited a substantial explosion would occur. Our supercharger is electrically driven and could ignite the mixture (unlikely to happen but still distinctly possible). We therefore do not recommend our charger for LPG or CNG fuelled engines. Exceptions to this are LPG and CNG engines that use a multi point fuel injection system. These engines are suitable for supercharging.
PayPal and 2Checkout.com are both well established and reputable merchant service providers. When ordering our products these companies handle all financial transactions on our behalf. You can visit their websites for more information on security and payment options by clicking the links below.
We do not have a retail outlet so our products are only available via third party merchant services on the web i.e. PayPal, 2Checkout.com, ClickBank and eBay. These companies predominantly use credit card transactions to receive payment on our behalf. PayPal does have bank funded accounts and facilities to use e-cheques. 2Checkout.com also has alternative payment options which are detailed on their website www.2checkout.com.
Although we are an Australian company we use American dollars. This is because we market our products internationally and the majority of our customers are more familiar with $US than $AU. PayPal and 2Checkout.com will automatically and seamlessly convert between currencies free of charge.
Currently our manuals are only available in English (with Australian spelling). Although our manuals could be translated into other languages we only have English speaking staff and would not be able to offer support in those languages. For this reason we have no immediate plans to offer our plans in other languages.
All documents are available in both PDF and Microsoft Word format.
The answer to this question varies from aplication to aplication and is therefore too long for a FAQ sheet. We suggest you visit our performance web page for more information at the following URL - http://www.gaprojects.com/supercharger/performance.htm
Just as was the case with performance the answer to the question is well beyond the scope of a FAQ sheet. A general answer is available on our suitability web page at the following URL - http://www.gaprojects.com/supercharger/suitability.htm Should you require more specific information we can be contacted at email@example.com

GA Projects specialise in designing low cost projects that any practical individual with basic handyman tools and ability can build. We avoid the need for special machinery or skills (e.g. welding) and ensure all our projects are made from readily available parts and materials. All projects are easy to build and are carefully scrutinised for quality and safety. We supply comprehensive, illustrated plans and construction manuals to guide you through every step of the way.
GA Projects supply plans and construction manuals only, not the products themselves or the materials to build them. All projects are designed with the DIY enthusiast and home handyman in mind. Products are not intended for commercial use nor are they generally suitable for mass production. We maintain copyright over all published material and prohibit unauthorised copying and/or distribution in any form. If you do wish to redistribute our material or to produce a commercial version of our projects then please contact us before doing so and if necessary we will negotiate an agreement.
